Click types

Pointing with the mouse is not always the most precise way to locate and place objects. For example, pointing on a line edge that is 100 mm long can result in a small but important tolerance error. To avoid such errors, the cursor can aim itself to click on a certain point even if that point is not exactly where the mouse is located.

Reference points for the mouse are selected from a toolbox window, which is activated automatically once you have selected a task that requires precision placement.

Free cursor
Free Cursor The mouse clicks at the point where the cursor points. Free Cursor appears as a pointing finger.
End of entity cursor
End of Entity The mouse clicks to the point that is nearest to the End of an Entity the cursor covered at the click time. The cursor appears as a pointing finger.
Center of radius cursor
Center of Radius The mouse clicks to the center of the picked arc or circle. The cursor appears as a pointed finger.
Middle of entity cursor
Middle of Entity The mouse clicks to the point that represents the center of the entity the cursor covered when clicked. The cursor appears as a pointing finger.
Intersection point cursor
Intersection Point The mouse clicks to the point nearest the intersection between two entities. This reference point demands two clicks: The first click shows one pointing finger and the second click shows two fingers.
XY coordinates cursor
XY Coordinates The mouse clicks to the precise coordinates that are entered using the keyboard. Clicking with this option opens a dialog box into which you must enter two values: X and Y. Toggle between the X and Y input fields with the Tab or Shift-Tab keys. Approve this coordinate by pressing OK or CR. Cancel this coordinate with the Cancel button or press Esc.
Grid coordinates cursor
Grid Coordinates The mouse clicks to the grid point closest to the point clicked. The grid must be displayed when using this option. The cursor appears as a pointing finger.
Delta XY cursor
Delta XY This option adds a value to the selected point. To open the window, enter values for the X and Y coordinates. Approve this coordinate by pressing OK or CR. Cancel this coordinate with the Cancel button or press Esc.

By clicking the small triangle, toggle between Delta XY and Delta Polar.

Delta polar cursor
Delta Polar This option adds a value to a selected point. To open the Delta Polar window, enter a value for the radius and the angle. Approve this coordinate by pressing OK or CR. Cancel this coordinate with the Cancel button or press Esc.

By clicking the small triangle, toggle between Delta Polar and Delta XY.

Pick opposite corners cursor
Pick opposite corners Use this button for selecting the mid-point between two defined points. This option is very useful for selecting the mid-point of a rectangle.
Tangent to cursor
Tangent to Pick this option to create or move a point to be tangent to an existing entity.
Normal to cursor
Normal to Pick this option to create or move a point normal to an existing entity.
Proximity click cursor
Proximity Click Use this option to snap the closest point of an object to its nearest entity.
Esc Cancel Exit the mouse reference toolbox without changing the cursor type.
